Early Years

Early Years is the first stage of Kenya’s Competency-Based Curriculum, before learners move into Primary School. Classroom time is built around activity and play rather than formal lessons, with early literacy, numeracy and language introduced alongside music, art and movement.

At Kahuho, this is where learners build the habits that carry them into Primary School: following instructions, taking turns and finishing a task. Class sizes are kept small enough for teachers to notice how each child is progressing and adjust accordingly. At this stage, we focus on:

  • Early literacy and language development
  • Early numeracy and problem-solving
  • Creative expression and imagination
  • Social and emotional development
  • Physical development and coordination
  • Communication and confidence
  • Learning through play and exploration
  • Building positive habits, values and independence

The goal: Give every child a strong, confident start to their education.
